I have a HS Spanish 2 class which I teach from a College text and curriculum. I was not the one who chose the textbook and so I am required to use it and make it work. I realized right from the beginning that this textbook was not going to be a good one. Simple things like layout was unclear and lack of supplemental materials was very apparent. I realized very quickly that I would need to start and create more materials for my class so that they could access the content in a more logical way.
Sometimes I would create worksheets based on the text for the students because the general idea of a text activity was good but lacked sufficient directions. Also there were many times that the activity itself talked about what you would do in the context of being a university student in a dorm room or thinking back to being 15 years old.
